What do you do when you know the product you really need just doesn’t exist yet?

That’s the dilemma Amy Merwin, a registered nurse from Denver, Colorado, faced back in 2000. Her youngest daughter, Britta, a beautiful 16 year old, was trying to make it as a professional model in New York City but she had been told that to be able to compete in the industry, she had to have expensive microdermabrasion treatments to ensure the necessary translucence and skin clarity required, even with her already flawless skin!

Amy, a divorced working mum, simply couldn’t afford to pay for her daughter’s microdermabrasion treatments.  At that time home microdermabrasion creams were practically non-existent in the USA. Most commercial cosmetic products were full of ingredients that she knew, as a nurse, were not what you’d want on your child’s skin, so with no other option she set about formulating her own microdermabrasion cream.  The result was Epidermx ^TM, one of the very first manual home microdermabrasion creams, made from only pure natural ingredients.

Not only did it give Britta the translucent skin she needed to make it as a successful model (in fact she became the face of the product), but the rest of the family were stunned to discover it also cleared up their skin problems. Even Amy herself, who had struggled with hormonal acne that had not responded to any of the treatments prescribed by her Dermatologist father, found that Epidermx ^TM completely cleared her skin.

Spurred on, she started to sell the product in the USA, and in the process created a cult following. Modelling agencies passed it around, and make-up artists, agents, actors and TV presenters all use it as their secret to clear skin.

A Few Years On…

The UK and Europe have become more aware of microdermabrasion cream as a beauty staple.
